Toffee Overload

Before Christmas, Scott and I decided to make toffee for all of his co-workers and for an excuse to go around and meet the families in our neighborhood. 24 batches of toffee later... I looked less enthusiastic than I did while making this first batch.

Fortunately subsequent batches set up better than this one did. Using a candy thermometer made a world of difference. We finally bought THE LAST THERMOMETER ON EARTH after searching 7 different stores one Saturday. It was worth it.

That silly raffia stained my hands.

And when we stacked all the boxes, we realized it also left two large red stains on the carpet where I was assembling the boxes. That was much worse than silly. Even that old standby, Spot Shot, won't get it out.

Sorry about the red stains, you've probably tried everything, have you tried oxyclean? I'm told it is great.

We made truffles, maybe do that next year, sounds like it may be easier than toffee. :)

Yum...toffee...It's a good thing I've banned sweets from my diet or I would have to make some.

Wow, toffee seems hard to make. Good for you! I'm sorry for your carpet, though! Who would've thought??

Sorry for the spot, I would say oxyclean might get it out if you haven't tried that!! I will have to ask Mike!! The toffee was YUMMY!!! The kids weren't too fond of it, lol, which was fine with me, lol, it was very good!!! I will have to come over for a baking/candy day!!! lol, you have a much better kitchen!!! That is still crazy on the dye in the raffia! lol.

Yum! Thanks for your posts on my blog Lesley! I want to get up some video but I'm still kind of figuring out how to do that. Looks like things are fun in Texas. We're inviting some new people over for dinner who just moved into your old apartment, can you believe 2 families have lived there already? Ian is so cute and I always love your music on here!

Turns out Earth had one more candy thermometer to offer because Taylor brought me home one on the Friday subsequent to "one Saturday."

Also, I suggest Huggies wipes...those things take out anything! =]

Seriously try the wipe thing.
I also use woolite stain remover for pets. Helpful to have around for those barf incidents too.
At least your presents were pretty. :) Did your toffee taste good? What are we going to make next year? OOOH, we could dip chocolates. yummy

That stinks about the carpet! Try Woolite Oxy Deep. We recently got a horrible grape juice smoothie stain on our carpet and that took it out in just a few applications. Good luck!
