Mormon Night at Minute Maid Park

We like that Houston has a Major League Baseball team (we don't care that they are not any good). Last night was "Mormon Night" at the Astros game, and we headed down there with our friends the Linfords (also recent transplants from BYU). The park was packed with families, and there was a line for the diaper changing station in the women's restroom.
We didn't get there until the 6th inning, but it was just in time to see the only Astros Grand Slam of the game. (unfortunately, the ball park was indoors, and more than incredibly loud when the Astros scored -- Ian freaked out, understandably, and Scott and I spent most of the rest of the game pacing around out by the concession stand.) But the whole retractable roof idea was cool, and the little Minute Maid Locomotive that moved (slowly) across the wall when the Grand Slam was hit was pretty cool. And it's always fun to get out of the house.

New Larson Family Rule: No Larsons shall go to baseball games until at least 3 years of age. Notice me plugging Ian's ear. Amazingly, he eventually fell asleep, and stayed asleep through all of the Astro's victory cheers.

We have also included going camping (overnight) and going to the movies with that rule! It is so not fun for them and for you. I am jealous that there are fun things for you to go do though. Was it self designated Mormon night or was it really a Mormon night?

Yep, it was really "Mormon Night". If you bought tickets online, you could get a cheaper price by putting in "cougars" as the promotional code.

They had "Mormon Night" at the A's games, when I was growing up, too. Or were they Giant's games?

I usually want to include "go to the store" along with that rule too, but that just isn't very practical. You guys look great and the game looks like so much fun! I'm still trying to convince Tyler that baseball really is fun. We'll have him converted him someday.

What's not to like about baseball?

Okay, I went for the hot dogs.

Lesley, you look great. What's your secret?

Chris isn't into sports unless he is playing them. I really want to go to a REAL soccer game, but so far we haven't made it to one.

Could you imagine a Mormon night here in Utah...hee,hee? Actually the Buzz has a family night that is pretty nice.

opps, I meant the Beez (I think that's how they spell it). I forgot they changed their name.
