33 Weeks

Okay, so I can't eat tons of pie, or dominate at mini-golf, bowling, or even song writing. But I am pretty darn good at this pregnancy thing. Ha!

At almost 34 weeks I feel great, just... gigantic. This baby has been very good to me -- no real problems with sleeplessness (despite all my midnight excursions to the bathroom), no heartburn, and not much general discomfort. But I have broken quite a few dishes. Like 6 casserole dishes in the last 2 months. And I totally attribute that to pregnancy. Other than that, things are going nicely. We are very excited to meet (and hopefully name, eventually) this little boy!

Closing Ceremonies for the First Annual Larson Family Pentathlon

With four Gold medals and one Silver, Scott is the overall winner of the 2008 Larson Family Pentathlon. What a great competitor! Scott earned the honor of having his name engraved on the side of the Larson Family Pentathlon Winners' Cup. I made sure they left plenty of room there for MY name to be added next time... This officially closes the Larson Family Pentathlon Games! Thanks for tuning in!

Pie Eating

The last event of the Larson Family Pentathlon has taken place.

Song Writing

With 11 votes for Song B, Scott's Ode to the Larson Family won the Gold medal by a landslide.

Scott: 3 GOLD, 1 SILVER
Lesley: 1 GOLD, 3 SILVER
Ian: 1 BRONZE

BOWLING!

Last night the bowling portion of the Larson Family Pentathalon took place at AMF.

Scott bowled 115, with several spares and a strike! Lesley started strong (with a spare in the first frame) but ended up bowling only 98. Ian was obsessed with all the "baaaawws" rolling around, and clapped every time we knocked any pins down.

Scott took the GOLD in bowling, and Lesley took the SILVER. Because Ian showed up to this event, he gets the BRONZE medal. Our camera gets DQ'd for not having working batteries at the bowling alley.

That puts our medal count at:

Scott: 2 GOLD, 1 SILVER
Lesley: 1 GOLD, 2 SILVER
Ian: 1 BRONZE

Mini-Golf!

Results from the Larson Family Pentathalon are in!Last weekend the competitors went to Shankz, a psychedelic, black lighted, glow in the dark, 3-D eyeglass-enabled arcade to determine the winner of the Mini-Golf event.

Despite hitting a Hole in One and leading by 5 strokes in the first nine holes, Lesley eventually lost the Gold medal to Scott, who had remained consistent throughout all 18 holes. Scott received the GOLD medal with 50 points.

Lesley received the SILVER medal with 52 points.

With two events down and three to go, the medal count is now:
Lesley: 1 Gold, 1 Silver
Scott: 1 Gold, 1 Silver

Scrabble!

Results from the Larson Family Pentathalon are in!

On Sunday night the first of the Larson Family Pentathalon games took place. It took two nights of Scrabbling to complete the event, mostly because the pregnant competitor had to go to bed before the game concluded.

The GOLD medal went to Lesley, with a Scrabble score of 354 points. Her shining moment came with the word "migrates", which was worth a whopping 81 points!

Scott took the SILVER medal with 275 points, and with only two tiles remaining at the end of the game.

The Games Begin!

While the world watches the 2008 Olympic Games take place in Beijing, our own little competition is underway here at home.

LFP opening ceremonies were held Saturday evening along side the Olympic Games commencement, but we celebrated with steak and donuts instead of fireworks and lip-synced odes to the motherland.
And now the 2008 LFP games are underway!

Ian's New Shoes

Ian has taken a particular liking to a pair of running shoes I have had since high school. He is always asking for them when he sees them in our closet, and once he has them on his feet, he always asks to go somewhere. It is amazing how well he can walk in them!

Food Storage

Our pantry was bare as tropical storm Eduard approached yesterday, so I decided to brave the rain and stock up on some canned goods. Just in case. As it turned out, Eduard didn't do much more than water our lawn, so I spent all that time loading canned goods into my trunk in the pouring rain, for nothing. That's what I get for 11th hour preparations.

After cleaning up breakfast dishes, I noticed an entirely empty cardboard case left in the hallway. Ian had pilfered all 12 cans of tuna and had stashed them in his hideout.

"You want 'em? Come and get 'em!"When I did come to get them, Ian sent them down the slide, saying "weeeee!".
In other news, Ian is apparently allergic to sugar free syrup. He got a nasty rash after breakfast. It only last a few hours.
