Ian turned One Year Old on Thursday, April 10, 2008! It was such a fun day, filled with firsts.
Although I have now forgotten what special birthday breakfast I made for Ian, I can tell you that it did not include the usual morning vegetable. And since our healthy eating habits were shot for the day anyway, Ian and I met Scott down at Fudruckers for lunch and introduced Ian to hamburgers, root beer, seasoned fries, pickles, nacho cheese, and a cookie overloaded with chocolate chips. He was a fan of all the above, but I especially liked how he shook his head and grimaced each time before going back for another long sip of soda.
Ian was nothing short of arm-flapping ecstatic when Scott jumped in the back seat when we picked him up for lunch. Ian seemed to know that something special was going on, which allowed him to see his very best friend at a time when they were usually apart. This was definately a highlight of the day.
Later, Ian helped me select some fun board books which later became birthday presents. We also picked up some birthday pizza and Cheetos. I knew they were destined to be his favorites, once he tried them. And I was right.
And to cap his day of dietary catastrophe was the event I have waited a whole year for: The Birthday Cake. It was awesome. Here are some pictures of the day. It was one of my favorite days ever.

The birthday boy wakes up happy. Not unlike every other day.
The kid scoredbig.
So to get him interested in opening the present, I hit the lions nose through a little hole in the wrapping, and as soon as Ian heard the music he crawled double speed over to the package. Here he is dancing (bobbing) to a tropical little tune.
Cake Time!
We are so glad Ian joined our little family a year ago. Life has only become sweeter since he arrived. We love you Ian boy!

This has been a much anticipated post for me...glad to see it up! Looks like the Larson's really know how to party. I think it's perfect that you just had your family. Those are the best times! Can't wait to see that lion walker. Very cool!
So cute! SO SO CUTE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN!!!!
I love how excited he got when he saw Scott. Connor does the same thing. In fact, if we start driving towards the school, he gets all frantic and starts saying "Daddy? Daddy? Daddy!?!" Awwwwwww. I can't wait to get these two together at some point!
Very cute, Happy Birthday Ian!
Happy Birthday Ian! You have a wonderful mom with lots of good ideas--dad too! Thanks for sharing; he's adorable!
Happy Birthday Ian. Did you really let him eat all that cake or did you help him? What a cute family you guys are!
It looks like Ian had a wonderful birthday and a very yummy cake. Lexi and I watched the fun video clips. He's so silly.
You captured it so perfectly. Those are such great pictures, and you guys make such a cute, happy family!!
Wow how time has flown by! I think the first birthday will always be the birthday that I will remember the most! I love these pictures they are so cute.
Ian ate that cake all by himself. I ate little chunks of it along with him, but that damage was 99% his. Impressive huh?
Happy birthday, Ian! What a happy and healthy boy! I love how when he smiles you can see all his bottom teeth!
Yay! I've been waiting and waiting for birthday pictures! What a fun birthday Ian had! I love all the pictures you posted and the boys and I had fun watching the videos together. Noah even said "Een!" over and over again as we were watching them. I love how Ian just dug into his cake, that is so cute!
I like the way that boy eats cake!! That's my kind of son-in-law. Although, I'm worried he might become a pyro judging by the way he was grabbing at that flame. Happy Birthday Ian!!!
It looks like it was a fun day for everyone. When did Ian start walking? Love you guys.
Where does the time go? It seems like they are so little and then next thing you know they are saying and doing all sorts of things. I wish we could have been there!!! Looks like it was a lot of fun!! He is a cutie, and I LOVE the family pic! You have a beautiful family!
