That Kind of Day....

It's only 9:00 am and I've already cleaned up 3 enormous messes.

The day started well. Daddy got to join us for breakfast, which is a big treat.

But then Ian decided to throw my bowl of cereal at me as he was excusing himself from the table. This was seconds after crushing scrambled eggs to dust and tossing them like confetti. When I returned from putting Ian in timeout, Joseph asked to be excused and then tossed his bowl of oatmeal on a different part of my dress.

I thought "I just need to hold it together until swim lessons. That will be a fun distraction and will give me a break."

But then the swim instructor emailed that it was too chilly for lessons. It's May. In Houston. I don't think chilly weather is even possible. And doesn't she know that I need swim lessons today?! I would have taken them swimming in the snow just for something to help pass the day!

So we made alternate plans and I sent the boys off to get themselves dressed. Ian returned quickly but Joseph was taking his time. So we went to help him with the tricky buttons and snaps.

His door was locked. When I unlocked it, I found him clutching a black dry erase marker! I panicked when I didn't see any damage immediately. I know it must be there. And there it was...

...behind the closed door. Up the wall, on the door, and all over the carpet. And once I downloaded this picture, I saw it is also on his shirt.

Ian wouldn't stop complimenting Joseph on the fact that one scribble on the carpet looked like a "J".

I recently silently congratulated myself on the fact that we had gone more than 4 years without a single scribble on the walls or carpet. That's what my pride gets me I guess.

Here's hoping there is nothing to blog about for the rest of the day!

Oh man. I am so sorry. At this point, I usually scatter pretzels on the floor and lock myself in my bedroom. I have actually done this (well, I put the pretzels in bowls, so the kids did the scattering, but still). I can't imagine.

I found this link, perhaps it is helpful?

HUGS. And you deserve a treat tonight.

Oh, you poor thing! I definitely would've lost it, put on a movie and candy, and cried in the corner while eating chocolate. Hopefully you didn't have to do that :)

I'm sure you were much more patient than I would have been. What a day for you! Hope the boys settled down soon. Happy Mother's Day!
